On the heels of a busy month, more great news - THE MONEY STONE was chosen for the LA Video Grant by From the Heart Productions! After a competitive review process, Carole Lee Dean and her colleagues were generous enough to provide over $30,000 in post-production equipment and materials. We’re very thankful for the vote of confidence by Ms. Dean and her colleagues.

NEW TRAILER
Our new extended trailer includes more bits and pieces from the rough cut. In the cut we emphasized not only the dangerous implications of the work, but also give you a bit more background on the characters. Let us know what you think!

Director Stuart Harmon and Producer Paula Ely had a great week at IFP’s Independent Film Week, an exciting event that brings filmmakers, funders, and distributors together for a week of networking, workshops, and most important - industry parties.
THE MONEY STONE receives NYSCA grant
Exciting news on the fundraising front - our film received the prestigious “Individual Artist Grant” from the New York State Council on the Arts! Our film was one of only 8 films to receive the grant this year - an important step forward in reaching our fundraising goals.

Sabrina Schmidt Gordon joins team
Accomplished producer/editor Sabrina Schmidt Gordon has joined THE MONEY STONE team as a Supervising Editor. Sabrina has been committed to documentary filmmaking for over a decade and most recently she Co-Produced and edited the award-winning documentary, Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes, which received nationwide broadcast on Independent Lens and has become part of a national dialogue.

Award-winning filmmakers come on board as consultants
Award-winning filmmakers John DeNatale and Jeff Zimbalist have enthusiastically joined THE MONEY STONE team as creative consultants. John, a former professor for director Stuart Harmon at NYU, currently oversees all local programming at Thirteen/WNET in NYC, a local PBS affiliate, and Jeff gained notoriety through his Emmy nominated breakout film FAVELA RISING.

Coming in to the final stages of the editorial process, the filmmakers are currently in search of finishing funds to help bring the project to completion and prep the film for film festival and distributor submission. “The Money Stone” workshopped at IFP Rough Cut Lab
The Independent Feature Project, one of the most celebrated independent film organizations in the industry and host of the IFP Market, chose “The Money Stone” as one of nine films to participate in this year Documentary Rough Cut Lab for first-time filmmakers. Director Stuart Harmon spent a week in early November with other talented up-and-coming documentary directors and producers workshopping the film and participating in numerous industry seminars.
